Early progress on accelerating drug development with Claude
Over the past several months, we’ve partnered with six organizations to accelerate curing disease. We’ve also started drug discovery efforts of our own, including programs for rare childhood forms of muscular dystrophy. In this post, we provide an update on our progress.
Quick read
A progress update from Anthropic’s life sciences team describing partnerships and internal programs using Claude to accelerate drug development. It explains specific early results and why Claude is being integrated across many drug development tasks to speed discovery and testing.
- Claude proposed shortened CAR T genetic designs improving receptor production
- Generated ~35,000 antibody designs, finding multiple functional hits
- Integrated with lab data to optimize leads and flag manufacturing documentation

What this page describes about Claude and drug development
This post is an update from Anthropic’s life sciences team about work using Claude to assist drug development. It summarizes partnerships with six organizations and describes early in-house programs, including work on rare childhood forms of muscular dystrophy. The page explains that Claude has been used across many drug development tasks, not just initial molecule design, and that the team is using real drug programs to learn where Claude helps and where it needs improvement.
Concrete things you can see on the page
The page gives short case summaries and points to more detailed technical reports. Examples include: Generate Biomedicines using Claude Code to propose shorter designs for a CAR T-cell therapy segment that in lab tests produced more receptors and improved tumor-cell killing; Divergence Labs having Claude generate roughly 35,000 antibody designs and finding early “hits” that bind or dislodge IgE; and BigHat Biosciences working with Claude and lab automation to make and test about 1,010 variants, yielding leads with much improved binding, heat stability, and reduced clumping. It also notes Enveda connected manufacturing documents to Claude to flag possible issues.
Who will find this page useful
Researchers, biotechnology teams, and people curious about how language models are being applied inside real drug programs will find the page useful as a snapshot of applied research and collaborations. The page is also relevant to anyone who wants links to technical reports and more detailed experimental results from those partner projects.
Questions people ask about Early progress on accelerating drug development with Claude
